Portakabin Provides Modular Office & Welfare Facilities for Hinkley Point C

The impressive three-storey ‘East Office Annex’ modular building provides desk space for more than 220 staff working on the civil construction. This modular office layout includes modern meeting and IT rooms, alongside high-quality welfare facilities for the site workforce. These essential welfare facilities include 1,200 secure lockers, changing rooms, showers, and drying space, as well as a 450-seat multi-use canteen which serves around 1,350 meals a day. 

The project's modular office spaces were built and fitted out to create a high-specification working environment. The features include advanced ventilation and climate control systems, fire alarms, emergency lighting, data communications, and a lift for disabled access to the upper floors. To reduce on-site work at Hinkley Point C, which is one of the UK’s largest and most complex construction environments, Portakabin manufactured the structure off-site. As a result, Portakabin successfully installed 90 fully-fitted, steel-frame modules to complete the modular office and welfare facilities in just three weeks, minimising disruption at the nuclear power station site.
