  1. Canteen Expansion for Growing Workforce

With 2 Sisters Food Group’s growing workforce, their existing workplace canteen could no longer provide the catering facilities and dining space their factory and office teams deserved. The organisation needed a canteen expansion that would support a high-volume food manufacturing site.

They approached Portakabin, their trusted and preferred supplier, for a modern canteen solution to provide greater capacity and create a welcoming space that would increase seating capacity, improve onsite dining flow, and better support staff wellbeing and retention.

  2. Challenging Site Logistics

Delivering a factory canteen upgrade on a live operational site presents significant challenges. The existing canteen had to remain fully operational throughout, meaning every phase would require meticulous planning

Complex groundworks, the redirection of utility services and the natural slope of the site would all require careful consideration before any installation could begin.

  1. Bespoke Modular Canteen

Rising to the challenge, Portakabin delivered a high-quality modular canteen designed specifically for the needs of a busy food manufacturing site. The new catering facility includes a bespoke kitchen and an open-plan staff dining area that supports smooth flow during busy break periods.

The 2 Sisters Food Group’s identity was reflected throughout the space with tailored interior and exterior options including furniture in their corporate colours, as well as wall vinyl and window etching. Every detail was considered from bespoke flooring for durability to climate control for year-round comfort.

As a complete turnkey staff welfare facility, the new canteen provides a modern and inviting space for the entire workforce.

  2. Building Installation with Minimal Operational Disruption

To minimise disruption on this busy live manufacturing site, the Portakabin team worked out-of-hours, including late nights and weekends to ensure that the project progressed smoothly without affecting daily operations.

The result is a vibrant canteen that reflects 2 Sisters Food Group’s culture and commitment to its team. Staff now enjoy a modern dining environment in a bright and comfortable space that fosters wellbeing and connection during breaks.

The previous facility was tired and outdated, so it was time for a change and boy did we change it! Previously the space was boring, bland, and basic. The canteen is now bright, colourful and inviting. The seating capacity has increased with the addition of benches and breakfast bars with mood lighting to create the coffee-shop vibe, with a lovely addition of a downtime zen space. The feedback has been amazing from colleagues; our next problem will be getting them back to work! Portakabin have been great every step of the way allowing us to bring our creative dream to reality.
