In modular building construction, a structure is built under controlled plant conditions in factory settings, with the same materials, building codes, and construction standards being used as traditional builds.  

A lot of the construction work also takes place away from the final building site to minimise disruption.

    Portakabin follows this modular building construction process:  


    1. Building stage

    Individual modules for your project are built off site in a factory, with modules usually fully fitted during this stage too. Groundworks will also happen on your site at this time, which helps to save time. 

     

    2. Delivery stage

    Modules are delivered to your site by lorry, at a time that suits your needs – even over weekends and holiday periods where necessary. 

     

    3. Installation stage

    Modules are craned into position, where they can be connected side-by-side or end-to-end and interconnected to create multiple storeys. 

     

    4. The finishing touches 

    Any additional fit-outs will then be carried out according to your specific needs, as well as internal finishes applied on site as requested.

What happens after Portakabin completes offsite construction work for your project?


Once we have delivered your modular buildings and installed them onto your site, we will complete a handover of the facilities in person. 

As well as handing over the keys to your new structure, we will walk you around the buildings so you can check that everything has been delivered to your agreed plan. You will also be shown how to use any technology fitted around the facilities, with required manuals and warranty information provided at this stage too.
