Portakabin (Scotland) is targeting continued growth across the public and private sectors with the appointment of a new Divisional Managing Director.

Rory Robertson, who previously headed up the company’s enterprise project management office, takes up the post in Scotland as Portakabin marks its 60th anniversary.

“We are extremely proud to serve the thriving Scottish modular building market, with a comprehensive hire and purchase offer for the education, healthcare, manufacturing, construction and transport sectors,” said Rory.

“Portakabin is one of Europe’s leading providers of both interim and permanent structures – from site huts to operating theatres – and in Scotland we are seeing huge demand for offsite construction and the benefits that brings in terms of cost-effectiveness, speed of installation and reduced waste.

“I’m looking forward to leading the team as we further expand our product portfolio for both the public and private sectors, with a clear focus on sustainability.”

Before joining the Portakabin team, Rory worked in Dubai as Managing Director of a global performance improvement and business transformation company, following extensive experience in project management for international technology and security management companies.

With headquarters in Hamilton and customer centres in Aberdeen, Inverness, Edinburgh and Glasgow, Portakabin (Scotland) has a 110-strong team, recently delivering major projects including Braeview Academy, a modular village for Exxon Mobile and a carbon neutral early years centre at Forehill.

Portakabin is the first and only modular manufacturer to create a Customer Charter with a unique on-time, on-budget promise. A key participant in the Government’s Kickstart Scheme, the company has also built a highly successful apprenticeship programme, ensuring young people receive vital skills and mentoring across construction, draughtsmanship, design and engineering.
