Modular buildings are interim or permanent structures that have been constructed using off-site manufactured, pre-fabricated units called modules. Modules can be connected side-by-side, end-to-end or in multiple storeys to make buildings of any scale or layout. Modular construction can be used for almost any application, ranging from site huts to state-of-the-art operating theatres.

  1. Speed

Groundworks and foundations are completed while modules are manufactured off site meaning your project can be delivered up to 50% faster than traditional construction methods1.

  2. Flexibility

Modular buildings can be easily expanded, reduced, reconfigured or relocated to meet your changing needs.

  3. 90% less vehicle movements

Less disruption and increased safety: modules can be installed in a matter of days meaning modular construction can result in 90% less vehicle movements2 so your site can operate as usual while construction work is carried out.

  4. Reliability

Modular construction is not subject to the same weather-related delays or skill shortages as site based construction. Once the modules are in place the building can be ready for occupation.

  5. 90% less waste

Reduced waste: off-site construction generates up to 90% less waste than traditional on-site building methods3. The factory-controlled process of leading manufacturers also minimises the amount of energy necessary to create a building.

The solution we chose was to hire a modular building from Portakabin, since this offered the high construction specifications we were looking for, combined with durability and flexibility. Most importantly of all, Portakabin could ensure rapid delivery of the building, which was critical for this project.
