During the annual shut down for maintenance at Huntstown Power Station near Dublin, a temporary contractors' village needs to be established on site, to provide offices, mess rooms, changing rooms and toilet facilities for the 70 or more contractors who will be based there.
Huntstown Power Station required a reliable supplier of high-quality short-term accommodation to deliver, install, maintain and finally remove this contractors' village every year.
Mark Birney, Stores Manager at the power station, says: “We chose Portakabin because they were the only supplier that could meet all of our requirements. They provide high-quality accommodation for the mess rooms, drying rooms, offices and toilets that we need, and they fully kit them out for us. Being able to source everything we need from a single supplier is a major benefit to us and means we can leave all arrangements for setting up our contractors' village to Portakabin. We've been using them for five years now and they are well established as our preferred supplier.”
The buildings supplied to Huntstown Power Station are high-quality Portakabin buildings, including a number of secure units for enhanced on-site security. The buildings are fully fitted out with lockers, ovens, fridges and other kitchen appliances, as well as office and canteen furniture, all supplied by Portakabin.
Each year the buildings are delivered on time and installed professionally. At the end of the agreed hire period, Portakabin efficiently removes the buildings, causing minimal disruption to the power plant's operations.
We have been very happy with the quality of the buildings supplied by Portakabin every year and with the responsive, prompt service of the team. The company takes full responsibility for providing our complete contractors' accommodation, which makes the whole process much simpler for us at this busy time of year.
When KN Networks won the contract to refurbish Irish Rail’s management offices at Heuston Station in Dublin, the company needed to provide interim offices, toilets and welfare facilities for the displaced management team.
Alstom Power required staff welfare accommodation for a planned Gas Turbine upgrade and Inspection project. Tight project management, organisation and strict adherence to health and safety procedures were paramount for this project.
