Why Hire from Portakabin?During the construction of Mountlucas Wind Farm, Bord Na Móna needed to provide site offices and welfare accommodation for workers installing the turbines. Once the contractor responsible for preparing the site had removed its own cabins, Bord Na Móna had just two weeks in which to source new site buildings for the turbine installation phase.
Annmarie Beegan, Wind Farm Project Assistant at Bord Na Móna, says: “Portakabin responded immediately to my enquiry and arranged a meeting for the next day. As the site is so remote, security was a top priority, and the Portakabin anti-vandal buildings were just what we needed. We also wanted high-quality, well-insulated buildings to keep workers cool in summer and warm in winter, and again Portakabin buildings offered the specification we required.”
The team provided three office buildings, a canteen and meeting room and two toilet buildings. These anti-vandal buildings are constructed from fully galvanised structural steel, making them robust, corrosion-resistant and easy to maintain.
Annemarie continues: “The buildings were delivered just when we needed them and we were delighted with the high standard of the fit out. They provided comfortable, well-equipped amenities for the team working to install the turbines.”
Once the turbines were installed, Bord Na Móna decided to keep the buildings on site to provide facilities for the wind farm service teams and to accommodate visitors to the site.
The service provided by the team is professional and responsive. If the buildings require any servicing, an engineer is always here the next day as promised – we never have to chase them up. They are always courteous and efficient too, which is very important, especially when we have visitors on site.
