Conor is an Area Hire Manager for our Site Accommodation business. We spoke to him to understand more about his role and what’s currently happening in the Irish construction industry.
I’ve been working with Portakabin for just over nine months now. I’ve always worked in the construction industry so it’s an exciting time for me to be active in the growing modular sector.
Safety is at the heart of what we do
We are busy supporting clients installing data centres and various projects for the utilities sector. These types of jobs are particularly busy with several subcontractors always on site and it’s when our fantastic site safety record really sets us apart from other suppliers. Industry insight
I would say that the future of Ireland’s construction will be based within the renewable energy sector. There’s a strong push from Government to achieve net zero, and this will only be achieved through the creation of renewable energy sources backing up the power grid. With data centres being constructed and their demand on the power grid this will also influence the construction of such utilities to be done sooner rather than later. Exciting times.
Modern workforce
It’s also clear the workplace environment has changed in recent years and Portakabin has adapted to these changes by allowing staff to work remotely and flexibly. This “Smart Working” approach means we continue to meet the requirements of our customers by working wherever we’re needed most.
And finally…
During my free time, I spend it playing one of my musical instruments, surfing or drawing. Having recently completed an Art Exhibition in August 2022 which was a massive success for me personally, I have been building a portfolio of new artworks.
