  1. Requirement

    A healthcare facility in Dublin needed to create additional patient facilities within its main hospital building due to increasing demand. To support this, the Finance team was relocated from their existing offices, creating the need for a new dedicated workspace. The hospital required a quick and practical solution that would avoid disruption to daily operations and not require new construction. An underused on-site modular storage unit, previously used by a subcontractor, offered an opportunity to be repurposed with an office refurbishment into modern modular office accommodation for the Finance team as they made way for patient facilities. 

  2. Solution

    The client approached us to explore whether the existing modular storage building, originally supplied for subcontractor storage, could be repurposed to meet their changing needs and converted into a modern modular office. This was a perfect example of sustainability in action through office refurbishment Following a review of requirements, we developed a plan to refurbish and refit the modular storage unit for its new function as office space. The refurbishment took approximately six weeks and included the installation of a kitchenette, toilet facilities, and AirCare heating and air conditioning to ensure year-round comfort. The result was a high-quality workspace, a modular office accommodating 22 staff, including a dedicated manager office and a meeting room. The modular storage unit was professionally converted into a modular office with the minimum of disruption and with no need for additional construction. 

We engaged with Portakabin to discuss refurbishing a modular unit on our site into a modern open plan style office. From day one they were extremely helpful and provided a robust design that suited us. The team including project management and construction workers were all super and completed the project on time. Our staff now have a spacious, secure, bright and energy efficient office environment. We are delighted to be able to reuse existing assets in a sustainable way!
