  1. The need for an efficient training facility


    When Special Melted Products, a leading manufacturer in Sheffield, needed a high-quality, modern staff training facility, they turned to Portakabin for a flexible solution. The company required a spacious, well-equipped learning environment that could be installed quickly at one of their three Sheffield sites. It was vital that the new modular building could be delivered and installed without disrupting Special Melted Products’ day-to-day operations. 


    Designing the perfect space through collaboration 


    To find the right fit, representatives from Special Melted Products visited the Portakabin Sheffield Visitor Centre to explore potential options for their project. It was there that the team identified a modular building that met their structural and aesthetic needs. Working closely with the Portakabin team, they customised the design to enhance functionality, maximise comfort, and reflect the professional standards of Special Melted Products. 

  2. Tailoring features to best support functionality and innovation


    To achieve the best possible training facility, they selected a unit from the Portakabin Titan range - Europe's largest self-contained modular building transportable by road. A custom-designed access ramp was integrated into the exterior installation, supporting inclusivity for all staff members. Additionally, a standout feature of the design was a branded glazed partition, allowing natural light to flood the space whilst maintaining an open-plan feel with clearly defined working areas. This premium touch ensured the new training facility felt integrated, modern, and aligned with the identity of Special Melted Products.  


    Delivering future-ready learning facilities      


    The speed of modular construction proved to be a major advantage for the Sheffield manufacturer. Within just four weeks, Portakabin delivered a fully equipped, ready-to-use modular building solution. Complete with integrated data services, professional furniture, and climate-controlled air conditioning, the finished training facility offers a bright, comfortable, and professional environment that fully supports the company's long-term commitment to staff development. 

The project to install a training facility at Special Melted Products Ltd signalled the start of a new era. The guys at Portakabin worked with me to come up with this flexible solution that would enable our employees to complete professional training on site away from their place of work. They listened to what I wanted and delivered above expectations, this is one of the first things you see when you arrive on site and we are proud of the end product.
