The Requirements
London South Bank University (LSBU) has recently embarked on the refurbishment of the largest building on its Southwark campus to create a learning hub. This included the closure of essential lecture theatre facilities and a loss of office accommodation for a two year period. Part of the solution was to provide temporary modular buildings elsewhere on campus for the duration of the closure. The new structures needed to be built to permanent building standards and provide comfortable, fit for purpose space. Providing a full turnkey solution, the option to procure via the NHS SBS framework and value for money, were all incredibly important.

The Solution
To meet the high expectations of LSBU, Portakabin proposed a series of linked modular buildings which fully met permanent building control standards.
Two distinct spaces were created one of which provided open plan office accommodation and the other, two large lecture rooms offering high-quality teaching space fitted out with the latest audiovisual technology, data cabling, Wi-Fi and climate controls. Each lecture room is able to comfortably accommodate approximately 200 students.
Portakabin was extremely engaging and delivered our brief to the exact requirements. During the installation a number of changes were requested by LSBU which were carried out without any delays to programme and in a cost effective manner. It was a pleasure to work with Portakabin.
