The modular hall at Culverstone Green Primary School was designed to standards set out by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), offering the UK’s first ever school building constructed entirely offsite using a modular structure. Many schools constructed offsite have a modular hall built traditionally, which often slows down the programme. Portakabin specialises in delivering innovative space quickly, with no compromise on quality.
Nick Griffin, General Manager for Sales at Portakabin comments: “We are always looking at ways to transform our products, provide innovative solutions and engineer better buildings. This double height modular space shows how we are continuing to challenge traditional perceptions of volumetric modular construction and drive our capability forward.”
As the hall has a factory finished concrete floor as standard, customers can start work on it right away in terms of fitting any systems at high-level, internal fit out (furniture such as climbing frames, basketball hoops) and applying the floor finish, saving huge amounts of time on site.
We have larger and more pleasant spaces to work in; we can move around the building with ease, there are more learning areas for small focus groups to use and the hall ensures that the children can enjoy PE with plenty of room to move around. We have already hosted two sporting events and parents and guests have had opportunities to visit and see for themselves this excellent new facility.
Priority School Building Programme
As part of the Government’s £4.4 billion Priority School Building Programme (PSBP), which rebuilds or refurbishes school buildings in the worst condition across the country, Portakabin was awarded a contract to deliver six schools in the Surrey and Kent batch.
