  1. Requirements

The Trust and Council required a specialist resource to accommodate 60 primary students from schools across the local community, who are in need of additional provisions and supported by approximately 25 members of staff.

Run by the Rivers Church of England Multi Academy Trust (MAT), Unity Academy would be an alternative provision SEMH primary school in Kidderminster, educating young people in Worcestershire away from their mainstream school environment.

  2. Solution

To meet the exacting standards of the Department of Education, Portakabin custom designed 17 of its Ultima modules to meet new performance targets. At 3.6m wide and 18.75m long, each module achieves better thermal performance and natural ventilation, and its large windows offer maximised daylight for an
improved teaching and learning environment for both pupils and teachers.

Portakabin was able to design and build a full turnkey package including a commercial spec kitchen, MUGA area, external pitch area and car parking with EV charging bays.

This has involved great teamwork between the Department for Education, Worcester Children First, Portakabin and our own team. Working with Portakabin has been a dream. Their professionalism and communication have been first class which has enabled the building to have been completed and handed over before the set date. This provision is a facility that is desperately needed within Worcestershire, and everyone is so excited to see it opening in September and the team are raring to go.
