As part of a major refurbishment programme at The Square Tallaght Shopping Centre, customer toilets needed to be closed down for redevelopment. During the works, the centre needed to source high-quality interim facilities to uphold the high standards expected by visitors to one of Ireland’s largest shopping and leisure destinations.
Cathryn McMenamy, Commercial Manager of The Square Tallaght, says: “We needed the interim toilets very quickly, so I did an online search and found that Portakabin seemed to offer the quality of buildings we required. We got in touch and they immediately came out to assess the site and discuss our requirements.”
The centre needed two ladies’ toilet buildings and a separate parent feeding room with baby-changing facilities. Portakabin was able to adapt its buildings to meet these specific requirements. The toilets also needed to be fully accessible for wheelchair users and buggies, and Portakabin designed a robust modular steel ramp to fit the building.
The ramp was specially designed to wrap around the building, providing easy access to all three rooms, with a non-slip surface and highly visible handrails to comply with all access regulations.
Portakabin did an incredible job, turning around these specially adapted toilets in just three or four days. The communication and liaison with us was perfect, and the buildings and ramp were installed exactly as planned
